Cadence is a smarter way to manage your data. Validating and connecting flow, pressure and operational datasets to create a single, trusted version of the truth that powers our analysis platforms: Dynamo, Paradigm and Radar. By ensuring that every dataset reinforces and contextualises the others, Cadence provides the integrity and clarity needed to build reliable analytics, demand models, and network performance insights.

Water companies generate vast amounts of data across different departments, but too often this leads to conflicting conclusions and multiple versions of the truth. Without a unified foundation, teams often have to return to source data and redo pieces of analysis rather than building on the success of the wider business.

Using Microsoft Azure, Cadence applies a structured, security-first architecture to collect, process, and validate data. It cross-references datasets to check consistency, scales to meet the needs of any company, and makes clean, reliable information available to both our platforms and external systems. Whether your company is using all three analysis platforms, or just the one, Cadence provides the confidence you need to turn raw data into trusted insight.

Data source and collection from a number of sources.

Using a variety of data lakes and warehousing, Cadence provides a store for validated data as provision for the analysis platforms.

The analysis platforms process the validated data to meet the requirements of users of the different systems.

The consumption layer serves validated data through our user interfaces.

Users can export their validated data from the user interfaces.

Processes are in place that orchestrate, monitor and backup the existing processes.

Delivering confidence in:

Analysis platforms

Through close collaboration with the industry, we have developed three analysis platforms that directly tackle the most pressing challenges in clean water distribution networks. Guided by the PALM framework, Dynamo takes preventing breakout leakage through the promotion of calm networks as its core aim, while Paradigm delivers a new, data driven approach to improve awareness of the causes of unaccounted for water. Last but not least, Radar ensures our clients maximise the return on their investment in acoustic logging technology, driving continuous improvement in lift and shift deployments and optimising the configuration of fixed acoustic networks to help us locate more leaks.

In addition to the analysis platforms we have produced the Academy, a learning platform suitable for all experience levels. Whether a new starter getting to grips with the practicalities of water networks or an old hand looking to make the most of SME Water’s suite of services, the Academy provides a foundation in understanding water networks and our services.

Currently the subject of a 3-year industry club project, Dynamo provides analytics and tools to tackle the challenges of pressure management and control in clean water networks. Through the creation of design standards, Dynamo’s ongoing analysis tools ensure that optimised systems are maintained and benefits are tracked, delivering a clear view of performance across each company.

Paradigm’s demand forecasting model provides a detailed breakdown of expected DMA-level demand for comparison with actual net flow. This allows the user to immediately identify flows that do not match the expected net flow profile for an area and supports the interrogation of this information, using intuitive techniques to identify the likely causes of the problem.

An advanced acoustic analysis platform that helps water utilities optimise the performance and management of both fixed and lift-and-shift acoustic logger fleets. By integrating multiple data sources, Radar provides in-depth analytical insights into fleet health, coverage, and operational efficiency, aiding in the full cycle of deployment planning.

Our e-learning training platform that provides structured learning through short courses that feature case studies, articles, videos and quizzes. The Academy ensures that industry professionals can easily get up to speed with our services, deepen their understanding of water networks, and revisit essential concepts whenever needed.

Benefits of Cadence

Reliable analytics & insights

Our system runs intelligent checks and cross-references datasets to ensure everything aligns. Each dataset is verified against others to create a structure where data is not only correct but works seamlessly when used together. Whether it’s for dashboards, leakage analysis or regulatory reporting, Cadence guarantees full confidence in your analytical insights.

Scalability

Whether you manage 500 or 5,000 DMAs, Cadence is built to scale to meet our clients’ needs with the help of scalable cloud computing. Its orchestration and monitoring processes provide reliability, resilience, and fast issue detection for uninterrupted performance at whatever scale is required by your organisation.

Data security

Security is built in from day one, with Cadence designed to meet the latest data handling standards. Dependable by default, it ensures sensitive information is protected while remaining accessible to those who need it. Behind the scenes, smart automation and built-in safeguards keep your data secure — without adding complexity to your day-to-day operations.

Your data

Promoting easy and centralised data access, Cadence combines structured data warehouses with flexible data lakes, making validated data sets accessible for a wide range of uses and ensuring that your teams have the data sets and insights they need at their fingertips. This supports everything from in-house analytics to external reporting and regulatory compliance.
